The Law Office of Knut S. Johnson has litigated many difficult cases around the country.  This is a small sampling:

  • United States v. F******, the firm represented Mr. F******* in a complex six-week trial, in which he was charged with violating RICO and several serious narcotics and firearms offenses.  He was acquitted of the most serious charges, and we just filed the opening brief raising numerous complex issues.
  • United States v. T*****, the firm represented Mr. T in a complex tax fraud and identity theft case.
  • People v. D***, where the client was charged with robbery, burglary, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and other related offenses. The client faced over 90 years in prison, and the defense was that the victim made the crime up for revenge. The jury found the client not guilty of all charges.
  • People v. A****, where the client was charged with robbery, burglary, and assault. The client was a three strike offender and was, therefore, facing 100 years to life. Two witnesses identified the client, and the defense was mistaken identification. The jury found the client not guilty of all charges.
  • United States v. M*****, where the client was charged with murder.  The judge dismissed the case after the close of the government’s case, finding as a matter of law that the defendant was entitled to kill her husband.
  • People v. A*****, where the client was charged with first degree murder. The jury found the client was not guilty of first degree murder, but guilty of second degree murder.
  • United States v. Smith, where the client was charged with importing and possessing with the intent to distribute 150 pounds of marijuana. The government introduced the client’s confession, which the court refused to suppress. The defense argued that the government coerced the false confession. The government also introduced the testimony of an informant, a convicted drug dealer who testified that he hired the defendant to smuggle drugs. The jury acquitted the client of all charges.
  • United States v. N*****, where the government charged a government contractor with numerous fraud, conspiracy, and false claims counts. After conviction on all counts, the court granted a motion for new trial. At the new trial, the government contractor was acquitted of all the fraud, conspiracy, and false claims counts.
  • These cases are listed only to show Mr. Johnson’s experience. These cases are not a guarantee, warranty, or prediction regarding the outcome of any other legal matter.
